Good Day Gone Bad

Due to an unexpected and unplanned stay in hospital for 3 days beginning Wednesday (24th) evening, I'm now home having undergone emergency CT scan and a lumbar puncture, with a further MRI scheduled soon. As a result it is about all I can do presently to post this to you lovely people - my eyes are less tolerant of the screen.

I will be back as soon as things settle down. I see I've lost two 'followers'? Oh well, shit happens. Until the next time, take care peeps ;)

300 Returns

Oh my, I never even knew a sequel was in the offering?! Loved '300' so much I added it to my own DVD collection. I hope this lives up to the first film's brilliant style and cinematography. Judge for yourself :)

The Dream Speaker Set Up for the Audiophile

After my last posts regarding the environment and general tone of 'doom and gloom' (no, I'm not trivialising) I've decided to look at something completely different in terms of geek tech, namely the high, high end (and possibly higher?) of audio excellence in speaker performance and technology.

The first set are Avantgarde NANO Horn Speaker System and weigh in at an astounding $16,500 a pair, but watch the video and listen to the sound they produce, beautifully crisp and clear, not to mention loud. Imagine these trumpets linked to your home cinema surround sound system.

The track playing is by a gentleman named Tatsuro Yamashita, and I've tried to find this particular tune on iTunes, Amazon, etc, but to no avail - sorry :(

The second speaker set are the beasts you can see in the background of the first video, which are the RM-7V. The entire set up is monstrous, both in physical terms and its price tag of $121,695 for the complete set up delivered to your door. All you need do then is buy the house to fit the speakers. But these are absolutely stunning in their sound. I hope all you geeky audiophiles are enjoying these snippets as much as I did upon discovering them.
Both videos were filmed in the Rey Audio store premises in Japan - sorry, but no reliable links for this.

Trash Islands in the Pacific Ocean

As a follow up to the previous posting on the fate of the albatross of Midway islands, here is a video taken from the 'TED: Ideas worth spreading' site, which you can go to by clicking >HERE<. I highly recommend visiting this site as it is packed with a wealth of ideas, discussions and topics, something for everyone.

Below is a presentation by Captain Charles Moore on the 'sea of plastic'. It is a shocking realisation of how we continue to slowly destroy our oceans, the life within it and possibly, even ourselves. I urge anyone with a conscience and interest in our environment to watch this, then spread the word. Out of sight, out of mind - this no longer should be the way of thinking.

Terrible and Sad Plight of Midway

My good friend Claudia Del Balso of Inspiring and Helping New Writers sent me a link today regarding a film by Chris Jordan that highlights the plight of the Laysan albatross. I won't say any more and let you watch for yourselves to draw your own conclusions, thoughts and feelings.

LP Covers of Old

This evening, whilst training in my garage, my CD compilation played Paul McCartney & Wings' 'Band on the Run' and it got me thinking of the album cover, which in turn caused me to think about other LP covers my brother had in his LP collection that I used to gawp at as a kid and marvel.

More Changes

Due to a long, hard think and consideration I have decided to remove all my works of fiction and poetry from my blog, and will not be posting any future works of fiction or poetry - of any great length, at least.

The reasons are of a personal, creative and copyright driven nature. I apologise, but hope for those of you whom enjoyed my writing will understand. Thank you.

Inspirational Video ~ C. T. Fletcher - ADVISORY: Contains Profanity

There are some amazingly inspirational videos on YouTube now, and this is one for all the gym goers amongst you. It is a gentleman by the name of C. T. Fletcher, a body builder and former power lifter. His approach to training is a no-nonsense, profanity-littered journey through hell.

Initially, I thought this guy was full of it, but after watching his entire series of videos I now realise much of what he says makes sense. He is driven, determined, dedicated and direct. How I'd love a month training along side him at his gym.

New Skin, New Title

I finally managed to get round to giving my blog a bit of a makeover. Exactly how it will be received I can only tell by any comments left. So, do please let me know what you think - yes, I know it's typically neutral and boring with it being primarily beige and browns, but I'm opting for something not too dark, yet not too light.

I did try the sliding tiles/mosaic/magazine look. As much as I really, really like the layout, it just doesn't sit well with my blog and how I post on it. Shame that.

Fiddling with these things normally takes several days, so there might still be one or two alterations yet to come. But anyway, plonk a comment on what you think; good, bad or indifferent - it all helps.

I thank you in advance for any input.
