The Elder Scrolls Online

I must apologise in advance for the following - it's me getting enthused for the upcoming release of an online game entitled, 'The Elder Scrolls Online', which will be the massively multi-player online role playing game set in the world known to many for the likes of Skyrim and Oblivion.

So for your viewing pleasure, here is the teaser trailer introducing the Alliances, of which there are three - I so wish 'The Hobbit' had been done completely CGI *sigh*. Enjoy the trailer... and if you're into MMORPGs, sign up for the closed beta testing coming up soon :)

My oldest stepson is big into games but I don't know if he's into the roll playing kinds or not. If so he's probably looking forward to this one.

Dude.... How amazing was this damn cinematic?! I've been a huge fan of cinematics since I first saw Soul Reaver's opening for the Playstation 1 way back when. Since then their have been some really good ones. Prince of Persia, God of War, the Warcraft series, the Witcher, Assassin's Creed series, and so many more, but holy shit this one was especially cool. I was holding my breath during that bridge scene, and when it showed those guys scaling that EPIC wall??? Any fantasy fan would have applauded that!

Having said that, I'm not entirely sure I'll get this game when it comes out. I'm more of an XBOX kinda guy and I'm not computer-savvy at all. Who knows though, if I see a little bit more gameplay footage I might just buy it. On a seperate note, The Hobbit in complete CGI would have been cool. I really think that is going to be the future of quality fantasy films. A lot of people weren't fans of the Beowulf movie that came out a few years ago but I thought it was pretty damn good. The Hobbit was at least 50% CGI already though lol I mean even their beards had some CGI

I hope the whole experience doesn't plan on being so, shall we say, 'over-the-top'? Interesting however. And I do hope they plan to explain why everyone seems to be slaying Imperials willy-nilly, and why the trailer hinted significance with that brief shot of the White-Gold Tower in the background.

Maybe it's too early to comment on it, but why no love for any of the other races? Looks like the main three alliances are: Nord, Altmer, and... Bosmer? After Skyrim one might think the potential could be: Thalmor alliance, Imperial separatists (maybe everyone's getting tired of being occupied), and perhaps the now militarily-active Argonians, or we could do one better with the armies of Akavir (which would be their first real appearance in an Elder Scrolls title, while also being quite plausible).

Good show. I was unaware of a trailer for this.

What you have in this upcoming release is alliances within those three tiers. So within each alliance is contained several races, so I think that's how they've covered a player's ability to choose a variety of character races.

For Daggerfall your choices are: Breton, Redguard & Orc.
For the Ebonheart Pact your choices are: Nord, Dark Elf & Argonian.
And finally, for the Aldmeri Dominion: High Elf, Wood Elf & Khajiit.

So, nine races, three sides. Sounds like fun to me. I had hoped Guild Wars 2 was going to be something special, but they've just gone down that same old tired route of high level grind for uber gear that more or less does nothing more than stroke your e-peen and prove how hardcore you are as a hardcore grinder.

Ah, now there's something good to hear. Looks like I'll be full on Ebonheart if my computer can handle it (they've always been my favorite races, so that works well!). Interesting how they stuck the Khajiiti in with the Aldmeri Dominion, but I guess it's all gotta' fit somehow.

Looks like the Imperials are gonna' end up as fodder.

Have you heard of a game called Dragon Age Origins?

Mark K said...

Yes, and it's a great game to boot. Although I have become stuck at a certain point and can't seem to get any further, so I've not delved any further - but then, I'm not the sort of gamer who feels the need to blast through any game at breakneck speed in order to complete it. I prefer to savour my gaming experiences :)

Why do you ask, Jojo? Is it a favourite of your son?

Yes, my stepson mentioned on Facebook something about playing it for 32 hours and getting stuck. His father was not amused at how his son spends his time, but what can you do. It's what he's interested in. lol

Yes, apologies all round - recent events meant my time was required to focus on real life matters. Sorry for being so remiss.

Thank you,and welcome, Tammy - as I mentioned above, not my intention to not follow through, but getting side tracked wasn't my plan. Glad you stopped by :)

I've been a fan of the Elder Scrolls games since Arena (pre-Daggerfall even! showing my age!), so it certainly piques my interest. I'm somewhat burned out on MMOs at this point, and love the single player aspect of the Elder Scrolls series, so I'm going to wait and see before I get too excited. Still signed up for the beta, of course.

That cinematic is fantastic, though. I'd like to see the movie or HBO series based on that...
